Abstract

The application of emerging technologies in the field of journalism is allowing the multiplication of communication possibilities, which forces us to rethink everything that has been done, everything said, all the customs of the printing and Internet era if we want to continue existing. This is how the journalist and professor Ángeles Fernández Barrero understood it in her latest book, El Periodismo que vuela. Drones, 3D, smartphone and robots, emerging technologies for the journalistic profession, a work "essential to walk this path that opens new avenues of research in the field of communication", as Antonio López Hidalgo indicates in the prologue of the work (p . 11).

Author Biography

María José Ufarte Ruiz, University of Castilla-La Mancha

PhD in Journalism from the University of Seville and a professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
She is the author of the books Twitter as a tool for electoral political communication (2017); Ask to write (2016); A trade that is leaving us (2015), and The journalist harassed: between job precariousness and mobbing (2011). He has also coordinated other collective works, among which stand out: From the deterioration of traditional journalism to the horizon of new technologies (2013), Andalusia before the economic crisis: The consequences in the media (2014) and Andalusia before the future of journalism and the challenge of the digital world (2014). Author of more than a dozen chapters in collective books published in publishers such as Gedisa, Fragua or Andalusian Studies Center, she has also published articles in scientific journals such as The Information Professional, Icon 14, Studies on the journalistic message, Anduli or Areas . International Journal of Communication, among others.
He has participated in I+D projects and has several research and teaching stays at national and international level. Among his lines of research is the evolution of journalistic genres, and their transposition to the Network. The figure of the journalist and his working conditions is another of his topics of interest, already present in his doctoral thesis. He belongs to the research group "Influences of Journalistic Genres and Technologies in Social Communication".
