Abstract

The aim of the research is to establish the state of the art on non-suicidal self-harm content created and shared by young people and adolescents on X (Twitter). The  PRISMA methodology applied consists of a descriptive review of scientific articles published in journals (in English and Spanish), between 2013 and July 2023, in international multidisciplinary databases (WOS, SCOPUS and GOOGLE SCHOLAR). Through the strategy of searching, reviewing and screening the publications, 15 articles were selected and analyzed. The result of the exhaustive analysis of the studies that inform these publications has made it possible to identify the most relevant topics covered and methodologies used. This review highlights the scarcity of studies on the subject from the exclusive field of communication/sociology and serves as a basis for further studies of an interdisciplinary nature to respond to the existing gaps
