Spanish fanzine movement and its evolution in the digital age: a conceptual proposal for the webzine

social discourses not present in the hegemonic media circle. It is, therefore, a magazine
produced by fans of a particular subject produced through craftsmanship and low cost
techniques whose purpose is merely expressive as countercultural initiative. With the advent
of the digital age and the technological revolution, the use of new production tools
causes a structural change in the medium giving it a new name: webzine.
This study focuses on the analysis of the consequences of the digital revolution on this
medium, using as the main study object the webzine. With this, are examined the basic
characteristics of self-publishing and the methodology is based on the application of an
extracted key aspects of the original model as analytical standards to a defined sample
of ten webzines still valid today.
